The Beeld Trophy for Large Schools in Gauteng kicked of last week and no real upsets were caused. In the opening matches Roodepoort faced the newcomers to the league, Linden. Linden who dominated the Medium Schools section in 2011, ran out comfortable winners in the u/14, u/15 and u/16 agegroups. Only the first team of Roodepoort stood in the way of a Linden white wash over Roodepoort. In the other encounters, the following week, Jan Viljoen went head to head with Roodepoort and Dinamika took on Alberton in their respective derby. Jan Viljoen started really well by winning the opening 4 matches convincingly. Again it was up to the first team of Roodepoort to regain some lost pride, and again they rose to the challenge by beating Jan Viljoen, 13 -6.
